HIFE transported more than 14,000 people to the 2026 Monegros Desert Festival
Last Saturday, July 25, the Monegros Desert in Huesca hosted the Monegros Desert Festival once again, one of Europe's leading electronic music festivals. As the event's official transport provider, HIFE deployed a special transport operation that enabled 14,202 attendees to travel from Barcelona, Madrid, Lleida, Zaragoza, Valencia and Bilbao to the festival site.
To meet the high demand, the company operated 263 coaches and deployed 263 drivers, covering a total of 110,601 kilometres across outbound and return journeys. Barcelona was the city with the highest number of departures, while Bilbao and Madrid were the most distant points of origin.
Beyond the logistical challenge, the operation once again demonstrated the benefits of collective transport over private vehicles. Assuming an average occupancy of three people per car, HIFE's service prevented approximately 4,734 private cars from travelling to the event, avoiding more than 1.90 million kilometres of road traffic.
According to calculations based on emission factors published by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), travelling by coach instead of private car also prevented an estimated 530 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂)emissions.
Pau Sabaté, Managing Director of HIFE, highlighted the team's work during the festival: "Transporting more than 14,000 people in just one day is a major challenge, but thanks to the commitment of our entire team, the operation was a great success. We are pleased to see that more and more people are choosing the coach to travel to events like this."
